Aletheia is a contemporary model church, located in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley, Harrisonburg VA.Our rockin' praise band sets the stage for a fun and highly energetic atmosphere, but one that is also genuinely worshipful and inspirational. Aletheia is EDUCATIONAL. Using the Bible as our text, we research the TRUTH and apply it to our lives, equipping us with the tools necessary for making good choices. At Aletheia its not about religion, tradition, or rules. It's about a relationship! It's about getting real with God and with each other. It's about knowing our Creator and making Him known to the world around us.
[ALETHEIA'S MISSION] to love God, to love others, to make disciples/evangelize, to baptize, to systematically teach Biblical insights, and to develop world Christians.
Our mission at Aletheia is to serve our community and local area colleges and universities. Our goals and purposes revolve around the Great Commandment and Great Commission passages of the New Testament: Matthew 22:36-40 and Matthew 28:18-20.

Ephesians 4:4-6
- One God who is Trinitarian, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit [Matthew 28:19, 1 John 5:7]
- One Lord who is Jesus Christ, God and Savior [Acts 2:36,38, 1 Timothy 3:16]
- One Spirit who is God, indwells and fills every believer and empowers the Church [Romans 8:9, 1 Corinthians 12:13, Ephesians 5:18, Acts 1:8]
- One Faith whose components are repentance of sin and belief in Jesus Christ as the only means of Salvation presented through God's Holy Word, the Bible, which is inspired, inerrant and infallible [Acts 20:21, 1 Corinthians 15:2-4, Acts 4:10,12, John 14:6, 2 Timothy 3:16, 1 Peter 1:21, Psalms 19:7, Matthew 5:18]
- One Body which is called the Body of Christ, the Church, the reflection of the Saviour in the world today [Ephesians 1:20,23,3:21, Hebrews 10:24-25]
- One Baptism which is demonstated both through the Spirit's indwellng and by water [ Romans 8:11, Acts 8:36-38]
[ALETHEIA'S HISTORY]
After graduating from college in his home state of California in 2000, Aaron Proffitt asked God what was next for his life. It wasn’t too long after he started praying, that God led him, his parents, and a good friend to Harrisonburg, Virginia to start a church that focused mainly on college-aged students.After a year of preparation, intensive planning, and prayer, the team of 4 packed up all of their belongings in a box truck and made the long journey across America. The journey wasn't easy, especially because the truck broke down over 15 times; but God had a plan! They finally arrived in Harrisonburg, Virginia, after a 7 day trek across the country, on August 22, 2001.Not knowing anyone but a realtor, the team began to build friendships with people in the community and on the college campuses. On October 28th, 2001, Aletheia was born. By combining relevant music, sound Biblical teaching, and an outpouring of love, a different type of church had developed. What started as a college ministry,Aletheia has now become a place of refuge and encouragement for those of all ages and backgrounds. Since the beginning, over 18,000 doors have been knocked on in Harrisonburg and more than 500 people have come to know Jesus.
